THE BEACHES
The local beaches of Christchurch have all played their part in my life; North Beach, New Brighton, Waimariri, Scarborough and Taylors. The memories they hold for me began when as a small child I walked over the hot summer sand hand in hand with my mother, to long days in the surf with school mates who would become friends for life, and to very special friends with whom I would walk for miles in silence, except for the outbreaks of excited barking as the distance to a seagull closed.
This collection of images has been created to reflect the old family photos, the prints of which are now cast in a soft orange hue, partly due to age, partly due to the warm Kodak & Agfa films of the day. With this project I wanted to create the sense of nostalgia I get when thumbing through those prints.
